24-hour relay race

In Viborg running has become a tradition. Every year in August a relay race around the Søndersø is organized, and the goal is to run as many laps as possible of approx. 6 km within 24 hours. In 2006 JP Group attended for the first time with a 16-man team, and 24 runners participated in 2011. It is a really nice event, and a tent, meals, running wear, etc. are at disposal for the runners.

Lightning around Søndersø

Along one of the most popular running routes in Viborg city - the path around the Søndersø - there was until the summer of 2006 no lighting. JP Group offered Viborg Kommune (The Municipality) to produce and deliver a great number of lamps, provided that the municipality attended to the installation. On the so called "Big Prayer Day" a larger number of companies organized that all employees helped digging the long installation furrow along the path - and this day was quickly re-named "Big Digging Day". Viborg Kommune then put down the cables and set up the lamps.

The Brems vehicle year 1900

JP Group a/s, Viborg Museum and enthusiasts have co-operated on recreating  a car manufactured in the first car factory in Denmark and now two copies of the Brems  motor vehicle Model 1 year 1900 have been made.

The story of the Brems vehicle is legendary. On 5 June 1900 in the morning a small vehicle on four thin wheels chugged out of the gateway from Julius Brems' hardware factory in St. Sct. Mikkel Gade. After first driving cautiously on the cobble stones, the motor vehicle accelerated while the driver and the two passengers yelled enthusiastically. The driver changed into second gear, the vehicle reached the notorious speed of 20 km per hour, and in a cloud of bluish exhaust it disappeared out of the town.

The little car produced in manufacturer Brems' workshop in Viborg in 1900, was at that time known as the first automobile of Danish manufacture. Politiken, a Danish daily newspaper had arranged a competition in which the winner would be the person first to make a Danish vehicle, and Brems won the prize. Everyone had forgotten that another manufacturer a few years earlier had been out in the same errand. However, it is Indisputable, that Brems in Viborg established the first automobile factory in Denmark, as he produced a total of eight cars in the years 1900 to 1908.
